Business Communication - Verbal Communication

When a message is communicated verbally and not in writing, by exchanging the works in face communication or through telephone or through the other visual aids etc. It is called verbal communication. It may take place at meetings, interviews etc.

 1. Time Saving : 
                            The greatest advantages of verbal communication, is saving of time. Under this system of communication, the messages are communicated immediately without consuming any time. Verbal communication is the only way out during urgent condition and when immediate action is necessary.

 2. Saving Money : 
                            As there is no formal method of communication the message, no help of any particular media of communication is taken; this type of communication saves a lot of money.

 3. More Effective : 
                            As there is direct touch of the sender of message with the receiver of message, these messages prove to be more effective. the send of message can also exercise  his personal influence over the receiver of message.

 4. Knowledge of reaction of message : 
                            An important advantage of verbal communication is that under this method of communication, the sender of message can judge the reaction of the message on its receiver. He comes to know whether the receiver of the message will follow it or not.

The present age is called the age of competition and challenge.  the Same stands true in all walks of life and fields of Commerce  industry, every producer and manufacturer thinks a number of times before producing/ manufacturing   the produce or product. the ultimate aim of these producers and manufacturers and the sellers is to sell the products   to the customers all consumers to gain the profit. the sellers the wholesalers and retailers all try their level to sell the goods services and products to the customers for which they have to convince the prospective buyers that the goods and services offered for sales are of the best quality, cheaper and according to public taste and faction etc. This is an art of selling which is called salesmanship.

Meaning Of Salesman

There is general saying about salesmanship that "it is the help provided to the prospective buyer to buy goods (services). It means that the seller or salesman works in the interest of the buyer buyt in fact the seller or salesman also acts in his personal interest as well ( to gain profit ). He offers the goods and services with one to one personal relationship to the prospective buyer and provides full information of the goods and services in such as artistic convincing and friendly manner that the buyer is attracted to purchase the goods.

Following are the qualities of a successful salesman.

1 - Knowledge of Human Psychology :

      For a successful salesman it is necessary that he should have perfect knowledge about human psychology. Not only that, it is also necessary  that he should know, how to use it to attain his objective in respect of his job. In fact the purchases made by buyers largely depend on their psychology, tastes likes and dislikes. Therefore if the salesman can judge as to what are preferences of consumers about goods and services offered to them for sale then only he can easily make them ready to make purchases physically and psychologically.

2- Impressive Personality :

     Personality plays an important role to attract the audiences therefore a salesman possessing an attractive and impressive personality can easily impress by his appearance, style of conversation and his pleasing manners. Personality can sometimes makes the customers so much enchanted that they would readily purchase the goods and services offered to them. It is the reason why beautiful air hostesses are appointed by airlines and in many business organizations good looking well mannered and proficient in conversation girls are appointed as receptionists and telephone operators and even as sale girls in big five star hotels and restaurants. Out of all other attributes of these girls the main thing which attracts the customers and clients is their glib tongues and ever smiling seductive looks. Some people may ethically object to these qualities of sale girls and employers but none can deny their utility in sales promotion. Nowadays sales girls are selling cosmetics, fancy goods, spices and many other consumer goods door to door in big cities.
